Wild olive leaf tea is the main drink of the people of the Athos peninsula. Most of the monks of Mount Athos live over 100 years. One cup of wild olive leaf tea is equivalent to 26 cups of green tea, 3.58 kg of broccoli or 2.6 kg of blueberries! The ancient wild olive trees of Athos are never sprayed with chemicals, as is often the case with regular Greek olive trees and most green and black tea bushes.
To prepare one cup of tea (approximately 100 ml of water), you will need 6–7 olive leaves. For a more intense taste and quicker preparation, boil the tea leaves for 5 minutes. You can also let the tea brew for 20–25 minutes by pouring boiling water over the olive leaves. The tea can also be brewed in a thermos and taken throughout the day.
